Numerous visitors were attracted by the smell of mulled wine and Christmas cakes at this year's Fair Trade Christmas Bazaar hosted by the German Development Corporation (GiZ) in partnership with the Fairtrade Group Nepal on 2nd December 2017.
The Christmas bazaar was opened by a speech by Ambassador Roland Schäfer. Afterwards, Christmas presents could be bought in brilliant sunshine. Various local Fairtrade dealers offered honey, spices, jewelery, textiles and much more. Visitors who wanted to have something sweet after they ate a hearty “bratwurst” with potato salad could look forward to the booth of the German Embassy. They were distributing traditional German Christmas cookies and cakes and informed about the various projects in development cooperation of the German Embassy itself, GIZ and the Nepalese government. In addition, donations were collected for a birth house in Kermi, which is being built under the direction of the “Nepal-Schulprojekt e.V”.
The German Embassy Kathmandu is pleased that the idea of Christmas is so popular in Nepal and wishes a Merry Christmas.
