German Ambassador Matthias Meyer inaugurates the exhibition “Kathmandu Augenblick”

In cooperation with the Saraf Foundation for Himalayan Tradition and Culture and the Hyatt Regency Kathmandu, the German Embassy is organizing the art exhibition “Kathmandu Augenblick” of German Artist Rolf A.  Kluenter.

Born in 1956 in Germany, Mr. Kluenter studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dusseldorf. In 1980, he received a scholarship to come to Nepal, where he lived for eighteen years as an artist and Lecturer of Fine Arts in Tribhuvan University. In 1998, on invitation of the Liu Hai Su Museum in Shanghai, he went to China since when he has kept working in Shanghai, Kathmandu and Cologne. Kluenter expresses his strong understanding and deep appreciation of Nepalese culture and arts not only in paintings but also in short movies and photographs.

Some of these photos, which will be given to the Saraf Foundation afterwards, are presented in Taragaon Museum till June, 13. The exhibition was inaugurated by Ambassador Matthias Meyer on May, 15 and promotes a further cultural cooperation between Germany and Nepal, which is the core interest of the artist himself.
