Development cooperation

Development cooperation

Nepal and Germany established diplomatic relations in April 1958. During these five decades, their bilateral cooperation has covered a wide range of topics, including vocational training, environmental issues, and rural and urban development. Germany is one of Nepal's main bilateral donors. Following the conclusion of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in 2006, Germany decided to increase its development cooperation. The intention is to help stabilise the peace process and facilitate recovery from the aftermath of the civil war, as well as providing more effective support for the country's poverty reduction strategy.
