Bilateral governmental consultations on German-Nepal development cooperation took place in Kathmandu on the 2nd and 3rd of June, 2016. The consultations served to discuss current and planned cooperation programmes in the three focal areas of health, renewable energies / energy efficiency and sustainable economic development and trade. The delegation headed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) also visited the districts of Nuwakot and Rasuwa to monitor the progress made in recovery and reconstruction projects funded by the German Federal Government in the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes in April / May 2015.
In discussions with the Nepalese Ministry of Finance and the National Reconstruction Authority, the German delegation also stressed that framework conditions for NGOs active in recovery and reconstruction should be improved. In Germany alone, private donations for recovery and reconstruction projects amounted to approximately 116 million of Euros.
