On Friday, 29th April 2016, the German Embassy and the organization Pro Public jointly organized the event “Supporting Nepal’s Peace Process with Nonviolent Communication and Restorative Dialogue”. The Chair of the National Human Rights Commission Mr. Anup Sharma together with the Chairs of the Commission on Enforced Disappearances Mr. Mallik and the Commission on Transitional Justice Mr. Gurung attended the programme as special guests.
The highlight of the event was the launch of the documentary: “Raamro Aakha Ma” (In the Eyes of the Good). This documentary tells the story of former Maoist combatants, conflict victims, and government officials engaging in a restorative dialogue, following the aftermath of the 10-year armed conflict in Nepal. It shows what can happen when people are able to connect with one another across divides, beyond fear, stereotypes, and enemy images.
The Non-violent Communication training including the restorative dialogue was organized by the Civil Peace Service – a programme funded by the German Government - together with partner organization Pro Public.
