Schengen Visa

File your application for a Schengen Visa at the German Embassy in Kathmandu in five easy steps:

Step 1:

Please prepare the necessary documentation for your visa application using the following checklist:

Step 2:

Please produce photos which meet the 

biometric photos requirements [pdf, 2,199.76k]

Step 3:

You have two options here:

1. Fill out the application form [pdf, 218.42k] print it, sign it and submit it along with the other documents.

To complete the documentation, please make sure the Declaration on true and complete information which is attached to the application form is also duly signed.

Or

2. Fill out the application form online in VIDEX print it, sign it and submit it along with the other documents.

Please note:

If you plan to apply for a multipe-entry Schengen Visa, please print out the Declaration on Health Insurance [pdf, 74.31k] sign it and submit it along with your documentation.

Step 4:

Now you can schedule an appointment for your visa interview at the German Embassy.

  

Please note: Only if you have filled in the form online via VIDEX, you can book an appointment in the category "Schengen - VIDEX".

People without a VIDEX appliction form will not be able to hand in their application having booked this kind of appointment, while having booked a normal Schengen Visa appointment you can also submit a VIDEX application.

    

Make sure you submit the complete documentation at your visa interview. 

Please ensure that you submit these documents in the same order as mentioned on the Embassy's checklist.

Step 5:

Before your appointment, please verify the current exchange rate for your visa fee at the Embassy's information board.

To all Visa Applicants:

Please pay attention: There are new timings for the collection of your passports: With immediate effect collection time for your passports is as follows: Monday and Wednesday from 2.00 - 3.00 p.m. /  Friday from 1.00 - 2.00 p.m. Family members of EU Nationals who require consular assistance or want to apply for a visa should contact the Embassy for arranging an appointment in advance.

Important Notice

With immediate effect (May 1, 2016)  the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany stops taking Schengen-Visa applications for The Netherlands.

Applicants travelling to The Netherlands who have booked an appointment with this Embassy will not be able to place their application.

Applicants may refer to VFS Kathmandu in order to apply for a Schengen-Visa for The Netherlands.

Visa Information System (VIS) starting from 02.11.2015 in Kathmandu

VIS - Visa Information System

The European Union’s Visa Information System (VIS) is applied in Kathmandu from the 2 November 2015.From this day on it will be compulsory for all Schengen visa applicants to provide fingerprints for their application.
